The band takes its name from "oranssi", the Finnish word for "orange" and Pazuzu, a wind demon from Babylonian mythology. Oranssi Pazuzu was formed in 2007 by Jun-His (vocals, guitar), Korjak (drums), Ontto (bass guitar), Moit (guitar) and Evill (synthesizers, organ, effects). Oranssi (Orange) in the band's name refers to cosmic energy and the color of the first light rays in the Big Bang, while Pazuzu is a mythic demon of the wind, also appearing in the film The Exorcist.

Whilst anything in the kind of black or death metal vocal range usually sounds like absolute shit to me, for some reason on this album the vocals don’t preclude me from thinking that it’s a really excellent album, perhaps it’s Oranssi Pazuzu is something of an enigma. For the past decade, these Finnish purveyors of psychedelic black metal have imposed their twisting, churning take on trance-like fury to the unwitting masses with music as dense as it is confusing, as confusing as it is enjoyable, and as enjoyable as it is dense.

Vocals so sibilant they sound cartoonish cut across psych-industrial madness here, while fusillades of war drums crisscross surges of diabolical noise. The Finnish metallurgists crisscross from black metal to industrial to psych, driven by a beautiful madness. The last re-release is 2012’s Kosmonument, a double album , which is unfortunately not on Bandcamp. The band returns to a spacey, rhythmic sound, at time veering into trance and blackgaze. Kosmonument was originally released in a very small quantity with detailed artwork, which 20 Buck Spin is replicating in this re-release.
